Famed English actor, Russell Brand has come under scrutiny in the past week by members of England’s mainstream media for veering from the establishing talking points on a variety of issues. Many of the tactics being deployed be the mainstream media to tarnish Brand’s reputation are similar to those used against Joe Rogan earlier this year.
- What Brand’s saying: in a video posted to his Instagram account over the weekend Brand defended himself, saying “The mainstream media is not your friend. The culture is not your friend. The government is not your friend. Big business is not your friend. They are operating collegiately, in unison, to create a set of systems that are beneficial to them, and disadvantage you.”
- Cancel culture strikes again: Brand has a history of using his Youtube Channel to discuss a variety of controversial issues and often veer from the mainstream media’s talking points. Brand believes his questioning of institutions such as world leaders and big business has made him a pariah to the media: “The establishment and the mainstream media are coming for me and coming for this channel, saying I’m a conspiracy theorist, a right-wing nut, and an anti-vaxxer.”
